Celebrate Safe Communities
Safe communities often result from law enforcement working with residents as equal partners in preventing crime. In recognition of this principle, the Office of Justice Programs' Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), the National Crime Prevention Council (NCPC), and the National Sheriffs' Association (NSA) have joined together to Celebrate Safe Communities. The Celebrate Safe Communities initiative is designed to help local law enforcement agencies and their community partners kick off celebrations for National Crime Prevention Month every October.
Celebrate Safe Communities works to spotlight communities’ crime prevention efforts, enhance public awareness of vital crime prevention and safety messages, and recruit year-round support for ongoing prevention activities that help keep neighborhoods safe from crime. In coordination with these efforts to promote community safety, citizen crime prevention and volunteer efforts throughout the country, NCJRS presents this compilation of resources related to creating and maintaining safer communities.
