In cities throughout the country, getting children into afterschool programs is difficult. In Trenton, NJ, the city is helping thousands of kids participate in more than 100 different activities.

In Many Different Languages, Help Is There
Weed and Seed sites are providing foreign-born residents with meaningful access to services and benefits. Although many sites have demonstrated successful outreach efforts, three stand out: Brownsville Westside, TX; Northwest and Southeast Trenton, NJ; and the Colfax Corridor site in Aurora, CO.

The kids in the Safe Havens in South Bend, IN, might have felt as if they were being watched last fall—and they were. They not only were watched, they also were filmed, interviewed, and peppered with questions by other kids, all to draw even more of their peers to Weed and Seed centers.

CADCA Makes Sustainability Make Sense
Funders are beginning to look for more accountability from grantees, and grantees are realizing that long-term planning is in their best interest. Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America (CADCA) is working with Weed and Seed to send out the message of sustainability.
