Citizen Corps

Citizen Corps is a nationwide program that promotes volunteer activities that support community safety and homeland security. Citizen Corps programs and partners build on the successful efforts that are in place in many communities across the United States to prevent crime and respond to emergencies.

 

Community Capacity Development Office (CCDO)

The mission of CCDO is to work with local communities to design strategies for deterring crime, promoting economic growth, and enhancing quality of life.

Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS)

The mission of BJS is to collect, analyze, publish, and disseminate information on crime, criminal offenders, victims of crime, and the operation of justice systems at all levels of government. See BJS's Crime & Justice Data Online for specific data on crime and justice agencies at the state and local level.

 

Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI): Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Program

Through its annual publications, the UCR Program compiles the volume and rate of crime offenses for the nation, the states, and individual agencies. The UCR Program also reports on the number of law enforcement officers killed or assaulted in the line of duty each year.

USAonWatch 
The National Sheriffs' Association, in partnership with the U.S. Department of Justice, launched the USAonWatch site to be the face of the National Neighborhood Watch initiative. USAonWatch empowers citizens to become active in community efforts through participation in Neighborhood Watch groups.

Center for Sex Offender Management (CSOM)

CSOM is an Office of Justice Programs (OJP) project that supports state and local jurisdictions in the effective management of sex offenders under community supervision.

 

National Sex Offender Public Web Site

This Web site allows access to public information regarding the presence or location of offenders, who, in most cases, have been convicted of sexually-violent offenses against adults and children and certain sexual contact and other crimes against victims who are minors.

 

Sex Offender Sentencing, Monitoring, Apprehending, Registering, and Tracking (SMART) Office

The mission of the SMART Office is to ensure that convicted sex offenders are prohibited from preying on citizens through a system of appropriate restrictions, regulations, and internment.
