in School (B3S) B3S is an initiative of the National Crime Prevention Council
(NCPC) conducted in collaboration with the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA). The
B3S program seeks to raise awareness of school safety and security issues and

Campus Safety
Awareness Special Feature This NCJRS online resource contains a

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
(CDC) The CDC Web site contains information about school safety in its Healthy Schools Healthy Youth and School
Violence sections.
Gang
Resistance Education and Training (G.R.E.A.T.) Program Administered by
the Bureau of Justice
Assistance (BJA), the G.R.E.A.T. Program is a school-based, law enforcement
officer-instructed classroom curriculum. The program's primary objective is
prevention and is intended as an immunization against delinquency, youth
violence, and gang membership.
GirlsHealth.gov:
Bullying GirlsHealth.gov was created by the National Women's Health Information Center to
help girls learn about health, growing up, and issues they may face. It focuses
on health topics that girls are concerned about, including bullying.

comprehensive information on school safety, including facts and figures,
legislation, publications, programs, training and technical assistance, and
grants and funding.
National Crime
Prevention Council (NCPC) NCPC produces tools that communities can use to
learn crime prevention strategies, engage community members, and coordinate with
local agencies. Included on the NCPC site is information about school safety and bullying.
Office of Community Oriented Policing Services
(COPS) The COPS Web site includes a section on Ensuring School
Safety, which highlights COPS’ efforts related to creating safe school
environments, such as the Safe
Schools and COPS in
Schools funding programs.
Safe
Schools/Healthy Students The Safe Schools/Healthy Students Initiative is
a unique Federal grant-making program designed to prevent violence and substance
abuse among our Nation's youth, schools, and communities.

Preparedness Special Feature This NCJRS Special Feature offers concerned
citizens, service providers, allied professionals, and military families
with information on citizen preparedness, including publications and
related resources on school safety and preparedness.

Web site, created by the Health Resources and
Services Administration, provides information on bullying, including where
children can turn if they are being bullied, and resources for adults to help
prevent bullying.
Student Drug Testing
Institute The Department of Education's Student Drug Testing Institute
provides timely information on many aspects of student drug testing programs,
including the necessary components of developing a program, implementing a
confidential and effective program, and sustaining a program to promote
drug-free students for the future.
