Advisory Committe Holds Second Meeting

The recently established Juvenile Justice Advisory Committee (JJAC) gives states an opportunity to provide direct input into federal policy development and federal legislation related to juvenile justice and delinquency prevention. JJAC members represent each state and territory and the District of Columbia.

At their second meeting, held on July 9–10, 2004, in Denver, CO, JJAC members discussed recommendations to be included in the Committee's first annual reports. The report to the President and Congress will offer state perspectives on OJJDP operations and on federal legislation pertaining to juvenile justice and delinquency prevention. The report to the OJJDP Administrator will address aspects of the Office's work. Both reports will be submitted to OJJDP by January 2005—1 year after the Committee's inaugural meeting (see OJJDP News @ a Glance, March/April 2004). The Committee's next meeting will be in December 2004 in Washington, DC.

For additional information, visit the JJAC page of OJJDP's Web site (go to www.ojp.usdoj.gov/ojjdp; under “About OJJDP,” select “Councils and Committees”).
