Intensive Technical
Assistance
Since the mid-1980’s, OJJDP’s LRE program
has provided technical assistance to establish
and enhance statewide LRE projects.
Since 1998, Youth for Justice has offered
intensive technical assistance and funding
to a select number of statewide projects
with special needs. Recipients of this assistance
are chosen through competitive
grant proposals. Outcomes, such as infrastructure
building and teacher training, are
assessed by the Social Science Education
Consortium (SSEC) in Boulder, CO, to measure
the effectiveness of the assistance
received and document the lessons
learned for potential replication.6
