The Coordinating Council on Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (Council) met most recently on September 14, 2007, at the U.S. Department of Labor. The quarterly meeting featured a briefing on the Shared Youth Vision and a discussion of the potential application of that approach to New Orleans area work and next steps for the Council relative to New Orleans. A panel discussion on Engaging With the Faith Community: Urban Minorities, Capacity Building and Opportunities for Federal Collaboration was held, featuring W. Wilson Goode of Public/Private Ventures and director of the Amachi Program (Mentoring Children of Prisoners program), Richard Ramos of the Latino Coalition for Faith and Community Initiatives, and Reid Carpenter of the Leadership Foundation. The next meeting will be held December 7, 2007.
