Family News Network

The American Red Cross has established this Web site to allow friends and family to locate evacuees that have registered with the Red Cross. Evacuees may also be located by contacting the toll-free hotline, 1-877-LOVED-IS (1-877-568-3317). The hotline is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Find Family National Call Center

The Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA), in conjunction with the State of Louisiana, has provided a national call center that serves as the collection point and official coordination center for information on persons missing from the storm. If you are searching for someone who is missing, please call 1-866-326-9393. The call center is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Katrina Recovery

KatrinaRecovery.gov is a cooperative initiative of the U.S. government, in partnership with local, State, Federal, and volunteer agencies. This Web site provides the latest resources available to aid recovery and the location of missing family and friends.

Louisiana Recovery Authority (LRA)
LRA is responsible for securing funding and other resources needed for recovery efforts, establishing principles and policies for redevelopment, leading long-term community and regional planning efforts, ensuring transparency and accountability in the investment of recovery funds, and communicating progress, status and needs of the recovery to officials, community advocates, and the public.

Missing Persons Hotline

The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) is providing services to the victims of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. If you are searching for someone who is missing or are caring for a child who is separated from his/her family, please call 1-888-544-5475.

 

National Center for Missing Adults

The National Center for Missing Adults maintains a national clearinghouse for adults and is currently working in conjunction with NCMEC to provide services to victims of Hurricane Katrina.

National Institute for Urban Search and Rescue (NIUSR)
NIUSR is a non-profit organization dedicated to finding improved ways of saving lives in times of disaster, both caused by Mother Nature and by man. NIUSR accepts the challenges of today by assisting in the transfer of military technology into advances in Civilian Readiness for Crisis Response.

National Next of Kin Registry

This Web site allows families who have someone missing in the Hurricane Disaster areas to register their information. It also allows people to notify family and friends of their whereabouts and safety.
