Training and Technical Assistance
The following training and technical assistance opportunities are a sample of those available through nationally recognized agencies and associations.
Bureau of Justice Assistance Center for Task Force Training (CenTF) Program
This program provides specialized training for law enforcement personnel who serve on narcotics task forces funded by either the Edward Byrne Memorial State and Local Law Enforcement Assistance formula grant or State and local funds.
Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) Law Enforcement Training Database (LETD)
The BJA LETD is a catalog of all federally funded and supported training available to State and local law enforcement officials. Each database listing includes the training provider, a course description, eligibility criteria, and contact information.
Centers for the Application of Prevention Technologies (CAPT)
The CAPTs provide States/jurisdictions and community-based organizations with technical assistance and training in order to apply the latest research-based knowledge about effective substance abuse prevention programs, practices, and policies.
Clandestine Laboratory Investigators Association (CLIA)
CLIA provides training for law enforcement, fire department and forensic professionals.
Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Academy Training Programs
The DEA offers training to Federal, State, and local law enforcement agencies on various topics, including clandestine laboratories.
Federal Register at the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA)
The Federal Register is a legal newspaper published every business day by NARA. It contains Federal agency regulations, proposed rules and notices, and executive orders, proclamations and other presidential documents. The Federal Register informs citizens of their rights and obligations and provides access to a wide range of Federal benefits and opportunities for funding.
Multiagency Course: Introduction to Basic Drug Intelligence Analysis
The course provides an overview of counterdrug intelligence analysis, introduces students to basic analytical tools and techniques, and allows students to apply newly acquired skills to a "real world" scenario through a comprehensive final practical exercise. Federal, State, and local law enforcement personnel who are interested in the basic skills of intelligence analysis should attend. The course is open to law enforcement personnel only.
Multi-jurisdictional Counterdrug Task Force Training (MCTFT)
MCTFT, a Federally-funded program, provides tuition-free courses covering all aspects of counterdrug law enforcement and training support for law enforcement and community anti-drug coalitions.
National Meth Training and Technical Assistance Center
Sponsored by Strategic Applications International, the National Meth Training and Technical Assistance Center serves as a national repository and dissemination vehicle on all topics related to methamphetamine.
National Sheriffs' Association
The National Sheriffs' Association provides training and technical assistance to State and local law enforcement officials, prosecutors, State and local elected officials, and government regulatory agency personnel on what methods to use to safely investigate clandestine drug laboratories. This project complements the training and technical assistance efforts of the Drug Enforcement Administration.
Northeast Counterdrug Training Center
The purpose of the Northeast Counterdrug Training Center is to provide drug law enforcement and demand reduction agencies, within the geographic boundaries of the Northeastern United States, with a no-cost training center.
Office of State and Local Training
As part of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC), the Office of State and Local Training provides training to State and local law enforcement officers, including drug-related trainings.
Professional Law Enforcement Seminars (PLES)
Presented by the International Narcotics Interdiction Association, PLES is dedicated to providing high-quality law enforcement training to professionals worldwide. Training topics include Drug Interdiction, Clandestine Laboratories, Drug K-9s, and various other topics.
