Internet Safety Act of 2009 (H.R. 780, Federal)
This bill would amend the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 to allow local educational agencies to use state subgrants under the Enhancing Education through Technology program and the Safe and Drug-Free Schools and Communities program to develop and implement programs promoting safe internet use by students.

Mentoring America's Children Act of 2009 (H.R. 913, Federal)
This bill amends the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA) to make miscellaneous changes to the Mentoring grant program under title IV that include an improvement of school connectedness and character education among mentoring's purposes.

Missouri Safety Act (S.B. 944, Missouri)
This act specifies that prohibitions on student possession of weapons under Section 160.261, RSMo (which requires 1-year suspension), possession of weapons or controlled substances under Section 167.117, RSMo (which requires reporting to law enforcement), and the prohibition on student possession of controlled substances shall apply to the school playground or parking lot, school bus, or school activity whether on or off the school property.

Right to a Safe School for Higher Education (Public Law 030, Rhode Island)
This act, modeled after the right to safe schools act for elementary and secondary education, provides institutions of higher learning with the right to safe schools and the penalty for violation of that right.

School Safety Enhancements Act of 2008 (H.R. 2352, Federal)
This bill enhances the safety of elementary schools, secondary schools, and institutions of higher education through various means, including the use of funds to install security equipment in schools, the development of safety measures to protect students in the event of a terrorist attack or other hazardous situation, and the establishment of hotlines for reporting potentially dangerous students and situations.
