The U.S. Department of Justice's Office for Victims of Crime (OVC) and Office on Violence Against Women (OVW) present a four-video series intended for those who work with victims of sexual assault in Indian Country.

Abstract

The goal of this video series is to increase awareness of the prevalence of the use of alcohol to facilitate the perpetration of sexual violence on vulnerable victims (intoxicated persons). The videos also discuss how to improve the investigation and prosecution of crimes that involve sexual violence. Case studies are presented to illustrate best practices for responding to victims of alcohol-facilitated sexual assault, with a focus on collaboration and a coordinated multi-jurisdictional response. The first video in the series addresses various types of support for sexual assault victims in Indian Country. The second video presents an overview of alcohol-facilitated sexual assault in Indian Country, including its prevalence, trauma, and effective responses. The third and fourth videos present two case studies, drawing on them to suggest trial techniques and multi-disciplinary responses in alcohol-facilitated cases of sexual assault. The videos are accessible online through this web site. 4 listings of additional material
