Abstract
"2017 AMBER Alert Symposium Gathers AMBER Alert Coordinators and Missing Persons Clearinghouse Managers" reports on Symposium activities, including a challenging presentation by Patty Wetterling, the mother of Jacob Wetterling, who was abducted in 1989 and has yet to be found. She discusses important lessons learned as she and her family have persevered in the search for Jacob. "Faces of the AMBER Alert Network" profiles the work of Nicole Morell, the Massachusetts AMBER Alert coordinator, and Shea Reliford, who oversees the Indiana Clearinghouse for Missing Children & Missing Endangered Adults. "AMBER Alert in Indian Country" focuses on how a 10-year-old Indian boy is raising awareness of missing and abducted children in Indian Country. This article also discusses the challenges being addressed in implementing AMBER Alert in Indian Country. "AMBER Alert on the Front Lines" describes the role of AMBER Alert in the successful recovery of an abducted girl through the cooperation of the Georgia and Tennessee AMBER Alert programs. "AMBER Alert International" reports on the work of AMBER Alert representatives from the United States, Canada, and Mexico in ensuring that the AMBER Alert systems in their countries and bordering areas cooperate effectively when cross-border child abductions occur. "AMBER Alert Briefs" presents brief reports on significant current events and activities related to AMBER Alert's work in recovering missing and abducted children.
