THIS ARTICLE DISCUSSES PAROLE DECISION MAKING, THE MAP (MUTUAL AGREEMENT PROGRAMMING) CONCEPT, LEGAL ISSUES CONCERNING MAP AGREEMENTS, AND THE GENERAL PROBLEMS OF REHABILITATION AND PAROLE.
Abstract
TRADITIONAL PAROLE PROGRAMS AND PRACTICES AND THE MAP CONCEPT ARE EXAMINED. LEGAL AND REHABILITATIVE ISSUES CONCERNING THE LEGAL STANDING OF PAROLE CONTRACTS, THE POTENTIAL FOR FULFILLING CONTRACTUAL AGREEMENTS IN PRISON, THE RELATION OF CONTRACT PAROLE TO PRISON AND POST-RELEASE BEHAVIORS, AND THE USE OF CONTRACT PATROL TO CONTROL INMATE BEHAVIOR ARE STUDIED. IT IS CONCLUDED THAT THE MOST PROMISING FUTURE USES OF THE CONTRACT PAROLE CONCEPT SEEM TO BE GOVERNING PLACEMENT IN COMMUNITY BASED CORRECTIONAL CENTERS, HALFWAY HOUSES, PRE-RELEASE GUIDANCE CENTERS AND WORK AND STUDY RELEASE PROGRAMS, AND WITH PROBATIONERS.
