The mission, philosophy, general policy, and procedures of the Virginia Department of Corrections' Division of Program Development and Evaluation are described; the division's unit functions are outlined.
Abstract
The division's mission is to plan and support client services and management needs. It also facilitates the implementation of departmental policy and programs by using effective operations and assessment techniques. To assess individual programs and measure their impact on the correctional system, the division conducts ongoing research and evaluation and develops information systems for monitoring and reporting. This booklet outlines procedures for requesting division services and for the internal management of service delivery. A flowchart displays how a division project originates and is processed. Functions are listed for each of the following division units: certification, electronic data processing, evaluation and monitoring, planning and policy development, program development, and research and reporting. An organizational chart displays the division's structure.
