This article describes a 2-year treatment of a case of marital abuse.
Abstract
Psychoanalytic and family systems theory were used to understand the processes contributing to the emergence of violence. Techniques drawn from both orientations were used in an attempt to diminish physical conflict and establish systems of communication which were both conflict relieving of communication which were both conflict relieving and relationship enhancing. The resistances to total change were also documented. (Author abstract)
