These data from Canada's 1985 Uniform Crime Reports (UCR) cover offenses in the aggregate, selected offense types, clearance rates, and persons charged.
Abstract
Data are presented for the Nation as a whole, each Province and Territory, and each reporting police agency. Tables cover not only 1985 statistics but earlier years as well, including in some cases 1974-82 and 1976-85. Offense statistics are broken down for violent offenses, homicide, sexual offenses, assault, robbery, property crime, break and enter, fraud, and Federal drug offenses. Clearance rates are for offenses in the aggregate and the aforementioned offense categories. Data on persons charged cover the numbers for each sex for adults and the numbers without sexual differentiation for juveniles. Data highlights are summarized in a narrative section, and the collection and organization of the data are explained in the introduction. Appendixes contain a listing of municipal police departments by size for 1985; a list of municipal departments that opened or closed in 1985; a summary of UCR rules and definitions; population data for Canada, Provinces, and Territories; and data forms. 24 figures and 4 tables.
