Abstract
Study guidelines and other instructions introduce the training manual. Individual lessons explain the functions of security officers, job opportunities in the security field, fire prevention and control, legal aspects of security work, the basic procedures in the criminal justice process, and the security officer's role in criminal justice proceedings. Additional sections explain the security officer's role in responding to crime, property patrol, the control of people and vehicles, collecting and reporting information, and the use of firearms and self-defense. Special problems faced by security officers and safety in the workplace are also covered.
