Seventeen articles discuss international drug trafficking, trafficking in and abuse of cocaine and marijuana, and drug use among American celebrities.
Abstract
Articles on international drug trafficking include an overview of the international narcotics trade, which traces sources of drug production in Asia and South America, particularly in Colombia, the foremost supplier of cocaine and marijuana in the Southern hemisphere. The flow of drugs into the United States is concluded to have increased rather than decreased during the last few years. Another article focuses on drug production in and trafficking from Colombia and Asia, followed by articles on drug importing in Miami, the defiance of drug law enforcement in Mexico, and the need for international cooperation in countering international drug trafficking. Five articles on cocaine use in the United States and four articles on marijuana discuss the extent and consequences of the use of these two drugs and drug enforcement efforts against the trafficking and use of these drugs. Articles on drugs and celebrities focus on drug-related issues in the lives of Richard Pryor, John Belushi, David Kennedy, and John DeLorean. Article footnotes and 74-item bibliography.
