This article examines a variety of sexual behaviors that occur between adults and children and attempts to clarify some of the confusion in terminology that has resulted from coverage of this topic by the popular press and broadcast media.
Abstract
Based on a review of selected professional literature and clinical practice, the author provides some behavioral distinctions to aid in clarifying the meaning of such frequently used terms as child abuse, child molestation, and sexual exploitation. The intent is to contribute to some extent to improved estimates of incidence and also assist in the treatment and control of sex offenders. (Author abstract)
