This report lists the followup activities and exemplary outcomes of California's first 26 Transfer-of-Knowledge (TOK) Workshops on youth crime and delinquency prevention, which bring together criminal justice professionals and concerned citizens to address various juvenile justice issues.
Abstract
Workshop participants have used the TOK process to implement new programs and procedures, influence legislation and policy, develop new program resources, and facilitate cooperative community efforts to address juvenile delinquency. Publications from each workshop provide information to wider audiences. Among the topics of workshops whose followup activities and outcomes are listed are wilderness intervention, correlations between child abuse and delinquency, interagency programming, black and Hispanic involvement in the criminal justice system, prevention and intervention strategies for families and youth at high risk for violence, and juvenile restitution and community service. Other topics include early gang intervention, the prevention of crime and violence among Asian/Pacific Islander youth, school safety and educational excellence, drunk driving, and runaway and homeless youth. A listing indicates whether the workshops outlined have brochures and narrative reports.
