The dormitory program calls for 50 inmate rooms (2 for handicapped) and related support functions, including one holding cell, toilets, a recreation room, a library, a visiting room, and a laundry, requiring total space of 11,965 square feet. The proposed dormitory building has been located on its own lot across the access road from the phase II building. The building will have a central function area and two dormitory wings. The finned tube radiation system is recommended for heating. The building project is estimated to cost $1,177,216. Once the project is funded and the designer selected, 74 weeks should be allowed for design, bidding, and construction. This proposed design was developed before any final design undertaking and before a legislative decision to appropriate funds for implementation.
