Abstract
Data on murder, rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, theft, and motor vehicle theft are presented for 1985 and 1986, with the percent change noted. The aggregate totals are broken down by data from police department reports and sheriff's office reports. Data for these same offenses are presented for the 545 police departments representing 99.9 percent of the Texas urban population. Clearance rates for each offense type are included. Crime and clearance data are also presented for rural areas, cities and counties of varying population categories, and college and university campuses. Arson data are presented in a separate table. Summary arrest data for the State cover juveniles and adults for 41 offense types. Offense data for murder, rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, theft, and motor vehicle theft are presented for each law enforcement agency and each county.
