This looseleaf manual explains how to develop and implement a policy for dealing with drug and alcohol abuse in the workplace and gives sample policy statements and material to educate employees about substance abuse.
Abstract
Individual chapters give step-by-step guidelines for the assessment of needs, the development and announcement of company policy, methods for educating the workers, the training of supervisors and managers, and testing for compliance. Also included are explanations of the nature and effects of the most commonly abused substances, checklists and questionnaires, an annotated list of audiovisual resources available for loan from the National Institute on Drug Abuse, descriptions of techniques for testing for drugs, sample consent forms, the names and addresses of State directors of alcohol and drug abuse programs, and chapter summaries.
