Child welfare agencies are currently emphasizing restoration of children who are in foster care to the biological family.
Abstract
As a result, foster care discharge rates have increased in the last few years. National data suggest, however, that this trend is being offset by high entry rates. It is suspected that the problem may be due in part to foster care reentry. This article reviews what is and is not known about factors associated with foster care reentry for children who return to their own homes. Characteristics of services and of case decisionmaking are emphasized. 60 notes. (Author abstract)
