Progress was made toward the 1985 goals of enhancing eradication campaigns in major drug source countries, increasing the number of countries involved in eradication programs, the promotion of bilateral and multilateral efforts by donor countries, and improving international response to narcotics production and drug abuse problems. Drug production data for various countries cover 1983, 1984, preliminary estimates for 1985, and projections for 1986. The review of the international program details the role and responsibilities of the State Department in international narcotics control. The 1986 agenda focuses on Bolivia, Mexico, Peru, Jamaica, Belize, Panama, Burma, Thailand, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Iran. Fiscal 1986 and 1987 budgets are presented for various regions and countries. The country reports encompass nations in Latin America, the Caribbean, Southeast Asia, Southwest Asia, the Arabian Peninsula, Africa, and Europe. The reports include a status assessment, production analysis, statistical tables, United States assistance, and resource estimates. Appendixes contain information on international narcotics training, multilateral assistance, and U.S. economic and military assistance.
