Required caseflow information includes critical stage performance (number and age of cases filed and stage of processing) and status changes. Caseload information should include cases added to the docket, terminations and manner of termination, and age and status of pending cases. Workload information requires a consideration of both judicial and nonjudicial time allocations. With this information a series of indices can be developed of court system performance. These include calendar clearance, average time to termination, current versus backlogged caseload, ratio of time standard terminations to pending caseload, proportions of terminations within time standards and trial rates, and caseload filings and/or terminations per judicial and nonjudicial staff.
