This handbook provides information on the Bucks County Victim/Witness Assistance Program (Pennsylvania).
Abstract
The program, operating in coordination with the Victim/Witness Unit of the District Attorney's Office, provides support, counseling, and information to help victims deal with the trauma of crime and its aftermath. The handbook outlines case procedures from reporting of the crime through trial and sentence, to restitution or victim compensation. Also provided are directions to the courthouse and parking, a directory of courtroom locations, and important telephone numbers for the program and for other community services and resources. Suggestions for testifying discuss dress, delivery of testimony, and do's and don'ts of testifying. Forms for describing the emotional, psychological, and financial impact of the crime and for applying for restitution or compensation are provided.
