The plan reflects the philosophy contained in the State's Sentencing Reform Act of 1981. The program will provide structured treatment for selected male sex offenders consistent with their sentence length. Treatment will be provided in a medium security prison, the Twin Rivers Corrections Center near Monroe. The program has seven components: (1) mandatory presentence investigations, (2) assessment, (3) a 6-month education program, (4) a 12-month intensive residential program, (5) a work release program during the final 6-months of incarceration, (6) community custody, and (7) program evaluation. The plan will cost about $2.6 million during the 1987-1989 period. The projected cost for the first 2 years of full operation is $3.7 million.
