Does a relationship exist between the naming of a child for a parent, abuse of that child, and later delinquency?
Abstract
Using a home for delinquent minors (N=137) as a research site, we found in the boys' home (1) a higher percentage of father-named adolescents than in a local high school and (2) a higher percentage of recorded child abuse for father-named adolescents than for boys not father-named. Controlling for likely intervening variables, these relationships generally held, though not always to significance. (Author abstract)
