Abstract
The organization seeking resources should define its needs so they may be clearly interpreted to potential resource donors. Presentations to prospective resources should be clear and precise. Someone should be in charge of resource development, and responsibilities should be defined and delegated. An important initial risk is to identify the organization's own resources and 'brainstorm' with organization members to develop a list of potential resources. A plan should be devised to match needs with sources, and partnerships should be formed based on mutual benefits and interests. The setting of goals that can be immediately achieved will help in soliciting resources for the achievement of longer term goals. Important people who can make a project work should be targeted for solicitation as resources. This not only includes people with high status positions but those with special skills and jobs crucial to a project's success. Volunteers should be used, and all who provide assistance should be appropriately and frequently publicly recognized. 12 additional resources are listed.
