Abstract
THE BEVERLY HILLS, CALIFORNIA, POLICE DEPARTMENT CONDUCTED A ONE-YEAR PROGRAM TO DEMONSTRATE EFFECTIVE APPLICATION OF SYSTEMS ANALYSIS/OPERATIONS RESEARCH TO THE IMPROVEMENT OF LAW ENFORCEMENT IN SMALL-TO-MEDIUM SIZE POLICE DEPARTMENTS, DEVELOPMENT OF AN IN-HOUSE CAPABILITY TO APPLY SYSTEMS ANALYSIS/OPERATIONS RESEARCH AS A MANAGEMENT AND PLANNING TOOL, AND THE DEVELOPMENT OF A MODEL APPROACH WHICH OTHER CITIES OF COMPARABLE SIZE CAN USE. THE REACTIONS OF THE EVALUATION CONSULTANTS TO THE SYSTEMS ANALYSIS TRAINING PROGRAM ARE PRESENTED IN VOLUME THREE WITH THE PROJECT ASSESSMENTS OF THE POLICE DEPARTMENT AND THE TRAINING CONSULTANTS.
