The analysis is part of an initial project assessing the usefulness of the computerized data from the Southeastern Network of Youth and Family Services. Data for the client assessment form, service summary form, and followup form formed the basis of the analysis of the overall population characteristics, the typical client, the similarities and differences between youths being served for the first time by Haven House and those served previously, and potential strategies and methodologies suggested by the data. Two-thirds of the 75 cases were white, 58.7 percent were female, and 80 percent had not received services previously. Average age was 14.9 years. About 40 percent of the cases, especially males, came to Haven House for a reason unrelated to running away. About 35 percent of both first and previous users were attending school regularly. The small number of cases hampered an exploration of bivariate relationships. Further analysis should use at least 200 cases. Figures, footnotes, and research recommendations.
