Aggregate data collection and analysis undertaken by demonstration sites of the serious habitual offender/drug involved (SHO/DI) program provides evidence of program success and suggests future directions for the program.
Abstract
Aggregate data analysis has identified a small population of serious juvenile offenders (SJO's) who are responsible for a disproportionate amount of criminal activity. It has highlighted the incidence of abuse and neglect in this population and provided insights for intervention. It has permitted comparisons of SHO/DI populations among the five sites, has established a data base on this population, and provides a profile of the typical SJO. A data form for monthly profiling of the SHO/DI population is appended.
