This text supplies students with case problems in police administration which require them to select and develop a plan to resolve the problem.
Abstract
The problems are taken from actual situations, and each problem has a number of possible solutions. The text initially outlines a six-step problemsolving method: (1) identify the objectives, (2) identify the problem, (3) collect and analyze data, (4) identify alternatives, (5) select an alternative, and (6) implement and evaluate. The text contains nine case problems in development and planning; five pertaining to organizational structure; seven involving personnel administration; five that address scheduling, zoning, distribution, and selective enforcement; and four that focus on administrative problemsolving. The appendix contains Standards and Goals for the Police Chief Executive from the Report of the Police Chief Executive Committee of the International Association of Chiefs of Police.
