Abstract
This document discusses the cause, symptoms, and transmission of AIDS. Operational issues such as handling of disruptive inmate behavior, searches and evidence handling, and the use of first aid are discussed in relation to correctional personnel in the prevention of transmission of AIDS. In addition to these concerns, the risk of the spread of infection to prison inmates and the handling of already infected inmates is explored. 4 figures.
