This anthology of papers on terrorism considers the broad categories of tyrannicide, the origins of modern terrorism, terrorism in the 20th century, interpretations of terrorism, and the last decade.
Abstract
Among the papers on tyrannicide are those that examine the origin of tyranny, the slaying of public tyrants, whether killing is necessarily murder, and whether it is right to destroy a tyrant. Papers on the origins of modern terrorism consider such topics as terrorist weapons and tactics and patterns in the terrorist struggle. The discussions on terrorism in the 20th century focus on specific terrorist groups such as the Provisional Irish Republican Army and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine as well as their tactics. 'Interpretations of terrorism' encompass terrorist profiles, the psychology of political violence, terrorism causes, and perspectives on terrorism. Papers which review the last decade of terrorism address terrorism patterns in Europe, Latin American, and the Middle East; terrorists in the drug trade; and the threat of nuclear terrorism. 350-item selected bibliography.
