These proceedings from the Eighth Annual Asian and Pacific Conference of Correctional Administrators contain keynote speeches and five discussion papers addressing correctional issues such as overcrowding and staff training.
Abstract
The papers examine the following: measures to counter prison overcrowding, work release, links between prison industry and the private sector, the impact of external monitoring on prison management, and regional cooperation for the training of prison officers. Views of the delegates are summarized at the end of each presentation. The document describes the role and activities of the United Nations Asia and Far East Institute for the Prevention of Crime and Treatment of Offenders. Lists of delegates, conference observers, and conference officials are included.
