The first of three major sections in the report includes statistical descriptions of the 5,390 residents in the DOC facilities as January 1, 1986; the 9,511 offenders committed by the courts to the county correctional facilities; the 2,331 offenders released from correctional facilities during 1985; and the 2,409 individuals sentenced to incarceration during 1985. Population change is assessed and movement of offenders summarized. The second section highlights abstracts of findings from special evaluative and descriptive projects completed in 1986. Section three includes abstracts of research in progress in 1986 and scheduled for completion in 1987.
