Abstract
This study reviewed similar national and local studies; analyzed local planning and developmental projects; interviewed experts in appropriate fields; and used the group process to identify possible future scenarios, alternatives, and strategies. This report highlights developments in the areas of population projections, crime analysis, crime projections, staffing needs and strategies, historical data, primary national and local developments, and trends and issues likely to characterize the environment of the next two decades. The report also provides input into the needs assessment phase of designing an efficient police building appropriate for police functions into the next century. Staffing requirements are projected in 5-year increments through the year 2005. 13-item bibliography. (Author abstract modified)
