This book is concerned with means of preventing unauthorized entry of persons into premises, and the prevention of loss due to all kinds of crime associated with uncontrolled access.
Abstract
Chapter 1 focuses on the objectives for the security of premises with attention to how premises may fail in their security functions, an analysis of methods of entry, economics of security, risk factors, and a checklist for review of security. Chapter 2 describes the defended site and its perimeter with emphasis on fencing and walling, exterior security lighting, and control of vehicles. Chapter 3 details the building functions, access and exit, structural shell, parts of a building (such as floors, doors, and windows), and interior and security lighting. Chapter 4 focuses on supervision and control of entry and specifically, difficulties of operation, checking vehicles, visitors and staff, and use of closed circuit television. Chapter 5 looks at the protection of newly-built reconstructed premises. Chapter 6 explores security strategies for typical premises such as offices, warehouses, retail premises, hospitals, and outdoor environments. Chapter 7 focuses on the management of building security, including training managers, monitoring security performance, and liaison with police and insurers. 22 references and index.
