This document sets forth the policies and procedures of the San Francisco Police Department concerning the control of infectious diseases and the prevention of exposure to potentially infectious diseases.
Abstract
The guidelines cover the reporting and other procedures to use following exposure to a potentially infectious disease, policies relating to testing of contacts who are the source of the potentially infectious disease, and procedures for personnel who show evidence of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) or other bloodborne infections. The guidelines also focus on training and evaluation as well as the duties and responsibilities of each police officer and the commanding officers of the department, the property control division, the personnel division, the planning division, and the training division.
