This book not only surveys basic campus security concepts, but also provides sufficient operational details to allow an administrator with limited security experience to develop and maintain an effective campus security program.
Abstract
Introductory chapters emphasize the leadership role of the school's administrator. The use of security and safety teams, traffic studies, and other measures to identify security risks and evaluate protective measures are discussed. The text addresses the selection, organization, training, equipping, and operational use of the campus security force. Specific topics considered include campus investigations, traffic control and parking, recordkeeping, reports, and security surveys. Individual chapters describe safety and security measures for athletic events, libraries, museums, art galleries, and retail facilities. Also covered are fire safety, campus drugs, the public relations role of the security officer, and crisis management. One section examines security on the high school campus. Sample forms and an index. (Publisher abstract modified)
