The program rested on the premise that drug abuse is a multifaceted and complex program requiring interagency collaboration at all levels and unified, communitywide efforts. The programs covered three broad areas: 1) school and classroom-oriented programs, 2) school or community-based nonclassroom programs, and 3) family-oriented programs. The programs completed an average of 28.9 activities during the 3-year period, with emphasis on training, curriculum presentations, workshops and meetings, and media outreach. Target populations were student groups, parents, school personnel, communities, and teenage mothers.
