The 10 articles provide information designed to help special services personnel, educators, and school consultants deal with affective and social development of students. Social/behavioral problems in the school setting are discussed in three articles. In another, the authors report on aggressive behavior and indicate the significant problem this type of behavior presents in educational settings. Contingent management is described as the behavioral procedure which has the most empirical support for reducing aggression. Additional articles deal with school interventions for dishonest behaviors (such as stealing); social withdrawal; emotional problems; fears, school phobia, and tests; and social, public speaking and academic anxieties. A review of school-based intervention strategies for depressed children and adolescents precedes a description of procedures, including monitoring, activity scheduling, cognitive restructuring, attribution retraining, self-evaluation, self-reinforcement, and relaxation training.
