The purpose of this study was to determine whether there was a significant difference in the 6-month recidivism rates for those students discharged from Gibault in 1984 before institution of reality therapy and those who were discharged at the end of 1985. Two identical questionnaires were sent out to gather data. Questionnaries were sent to three different sources for each student in order to improve the validity and reliability of the data. The results suggested that Gibault's current program and treatment modalities were effective in lowering some recidivism rates. When the academic, family, and court-related categories were compared, a positive correlation between placement at Gibault and post discharge improvement was suggested. (Author abstract modified)
