This paper is a review of the data available to biologists dealing with sexual assault cases in a busy forensic science laboratory and with the rationale behind the sequence of examinations.
Abstract
The data assist in directing the course of the scientific examination, in evaluating findings and in answering questions in court. In Part 1, the sources of information available to the forensic scientist are described, as are the developments which have led to the present approach. The act of intercourse, and demonstrating if and when it had occurred, are considered in detail for vaginal, anal and oral intercourse. (Publisher abstract)
