The eight-step program development plan is to start with a program rationale, secure administrative involvement and support, involve community agencies, form an advisory committee, establish reporting policies and procedures, choose a curriculum, select and train teachers, and educate parents. Twenty-three classroom activities focus on facts about sexual abuse, relevant feelings, personal safety skills, assertiveness skills, skills to prevent date rape, getting help, and media influences. Guidance for teaching preparation encompasses preparing for the classroom, becoming comfortable with the topic, classroom facilitation skills, teaching at junior and senior high levels, answering student questions, and helping student sexual abuse victims.
