Among family factors found to be connected with juvenile offending were parental character, breakup of families, improper methods of parental control and education, abnormal family environment, and criminal or other wrongdoing by other family members. While birth order, housing conditions, and financial situation of the family were also contributing factors, they were not the major ones. Results clearly demonstrate the importance of family influences on the behavior of youth. Eradication of negative family influences is of the greatest importance in preventing delinquency.
