Prison and court personnel face extreme difficulties when called on to produce AIDS prisoners so that the courts can review pending prosecutions and render verdicts.
Abstract
Three types of electronic equipment that facilitate the processing of prisoners with AIDS are considered: (1) closed circuit televisions for production of AIDS prisoners and medical experts; (2) telefacsimile machines for the transmittal of medical documents from the prison infirmaries and hospitals where the prisoners are being treated to the courthouses where the prisoners' cases are being heard; and (3) computer formats for tracking AIDS cases so that dispositions are expedited. This article also discusses the due process problems created by the use of electronic production. (Publisher abstract)
