This 4-part reference manual describes a school-based crime prevention effort by young people in Dade County.
Abstract
Section A discusses youth crime watch goals, including crime prevention and reporting, and action projects. Section B, the elementary school component of the program, describes the Officer McGruff program and skits, youth crime watch clubs, poster contests, pumpkin patrol, cheerleading contests, youth crime watch hot line, and monthly topics. Section C focuses on the secondary school program which involves core group and extended core group activities, and assemblies. The final section is an appendix which provides tips for teachers, promotional support, examples of a speech, a message to assembly speakers, principal's opening remarks, president's introduction of speakers, an adult volunteer speech, examples of program materials, and an order blank.
